"Power over eSATA" (eSATAp) means that devices taking advantage of this specification no longer require a separate power supply when using eSATA, they draw power for the drive directly from the host system through the Power over eSATA cable/connector connection. A "Power over eSATA" connector is a hybrid of both eSATA and USB2.0, so that it supports USB A Type/eSATA/eSATAp devices.
The Welland EZSTOR essential Power over eSATA kit consists of a single port eSATAp extension card for PC and an eSATAp cable for connecting to a SATA storage device. eSATAp ports and connectors combine eSATA with +5V and +12V power support, so when connecting to hard drives, no extra power supply is required.
